Some sketches from last Saturday’s (18 June 2011) sketching day at Montecasino, again. We decided to meet up for the Italian festival this time. They had an interesting show of Italian flag throwers as well as some beautiful Lamborghinis on display. It was a real challenge to try and sketch the flag throwers with all the waving and running around. The bits of colour I added back home. After the frantic speed sketching we had a coffee break and drew each other. Check out Cathy Gatland’s blog post , Cathy Giordano Bricka’s blog post or the whole album on the Joburg Sketchers Facebook page.
Enjoyed seeing the enlarged version of the flag dancers – I like all the spontaneous marks in there – all super sketches John, and an honour to be sketched by you!
You achieved a lot in that one session, well done ! The sketch of the building is my favourite with bold and confident lines and tones and colours, – love it !!
Thanks. I was most happy with the portrait of Cathy, because it came together quite quickly unlike most portraits I attempt.
